The Stable first started taking it's current form in 2013 when the present we discovered it's obvious appeal in the shape of an old garage attached to an even older house. A heritage listed building, from the early 1900's, there was a lot of work to do in order to preserve and highlight it's historic handsomeness. It was only while walking around the buildings that we discovered the troughs used to feed the oxen and horses when the building was used in its original form... the stable. Restoration began, and slowly the delightful retreat emerged from the thick walls and tall wooden ceilings amidst the wild vines and over grown fruit trees. Every effort was made to keep the building's rustic, country charms while adding a stylish interior to keep guests comfortable and happy.
The details of The Stable
The Stable is a large 145 square meter, 2 bedroom 1bathroom guest cottage that comfortably sleeps 4 guests as the rooms have Queen sized beds in. There is an open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area that opens up onto beautiful grape vines and a private garden. The garden has thick, green lawn, a paved area with outside seating, trees, flowers, and outside shower and BBQ facilities.
The Stable is located at the top end of Porterville, a few steps away from the farmer's fields and with views of the magnificent Olifants River Mountains. Guests can relax away from a big city, but also enjoy the small town atmosphere and events within minutes drive, if desired. We have fallen in love with Porterville, and are more than happy to share all our knowledge of the area with guests in order help tailor any visit to The Stable into the perfect getaway.
